Dr. Brett Kettelhut is a board-certified allergist-immunologist with nearly four decades of clinical experience specializing in allergic, inflammatory, and immune-mediated skin conditions. At Elkhorn Dermatology, he provides physician-supervised dermatologic care with a focus on identifying the underlying causes of chronic skin disease rather than simply treating symptoms.
His clinical interests include the relationship between immune function, environmental allergens, adverse food reactions, the skin microbiome, and overall skin health. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of eczema, allergic contact dermatitis, and other chronic inflammatory skin conditions, and provides physician oversight for skin patch testing to help identify allergic triggers that may contribute to persistent rashes.
At Elkhorn Dermatology, Dr. Kettelhut combines his expertise in allergy, immunology, and dermatology to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients of all ages. His approach emphasizes understanding each patient’s medical history, environmental exposures, immune function, and skin barrier health to develop individualized treatment strategies that support long-term skin health and quality of life.
Dr. Kettelhut earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha before receiving his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. During his medical training, he received multiple research awards and honors before completing his pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He later completed a prestigious fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he participated in nationally recognized clinical and immunology research.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kettelhut has remained committed to integrating current medical research with compassionate, individualized patient care. His extensive experience treating allergic disease, immune disorders, and chronic inflammatory skin conditions allows him to provide thoughtful evaluation and personalized treatment recommendations for patients with complex dermatologic concerns.
Outside of medicine, Brett enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, landscaping, watching classic films, and playing the guitar. His lifelong curiosity, dedication to learning, and passion for helping others continue to shape both his professional practice and his commitment to serving the Omaha and Elkhorn communities.
