A different approach to dermatology centered on early detection, personalized care, advanced technology, and more time with every patient.
Elkhorn Dermatology was founded with a clear vision: to create a dermatology practice where patients receive comprehensive, personalized skin care without feeling rushed.
Valeriya Kettelhut, PhD, founded the practice after recognizing the need for greater access to thorough skin evaluations, advanced skin cancer detection, and dermatology appointments that allow providers the time to truly understand each patient’s concerns.
A central part of that vision is prevention and early detection. Elkhorn Dermatology combines comprehensive skin examinations with advanced technologies such as FotoFinder ATBM mole mapping and digital dermoscopy to help identify suspicious or changing lesions as early as possible.
The practice was also intentionally designed around a direct-pay model. By using a direct-pay model, our providers can devote more time to listening, evaluating, educating, and developing individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s needs.
Today, Elkhorn Dermatology provides medical, preventive, and cosmetic dermatology care with a focus on thorough evaluation, personalized treatment, patient education, and long-term skin health.
We take time to evaluate your skin thoroughly, discuss your concerns, review relevant history, and identify changes that may deserve closer attention.
FotoFinder ATBM mole mapping, digital photography, and dermoscopy help our providers document and monitor skin changes over time and examine concerning lesions more closely.
Appointments are designed to allow meaningful conversation, thoughtful evaluation, patient education, and individualized treatment planning without feeling rushed.
When possible, we offer same-week appointments so patients can be seen sooner without waiting months for an evaluation.
Elkhorn Dermatology brings together providers with specialized training and experience in dermatologic, allergic, inflammatory, and preventive skin care.
Medical Director Brett Kettelhut, MD, a board-certified allergist and immunologist, brings extensive expertise in allergic and inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema and contact dermatitis.
Clinical Director Margaret Matveyev, APRN, provides comprehensive dermatology care with a particular focus on skin cancer screening, dermoscopy, lesion evaluation, acne, inflammatory skin conditions, and medical and cosmetic dermatology.
Our providers are committed to continuing education and regularly expand their knowledge of emerging diagnostic technologies, treatment approaches, and evidence-based dermatologic care.
Most importantly, they share a philosophy that good dermatology begins with listening carefully, evaluating thoroughly, and treating the individual rather than simply addressing a symptom.
Early detection can make a meaningful difference in the treatment of skin cancer. That is why comprehensive skin evaluation is one of the foundations of Elkhorn Dermatology.
Our full-body skin examinations combine a careful clinical examination with technologies such as FotoFinder ATBM digital mole mapping and dermoscopy when appropriate. These tools allow our providers to document lesions, establish a visual baseline, and monitor changes over time.
For patients with numerous moles, a history of significant sun exposure, changing lesions, or other risk factors, this approach can provide a more detailed picture of how the skin changes from one examination to the next.
Skin concerns do not always exist in isolation. When appropriate, our providers take time to understand the broader context of a patient’s condition, including previous treatments, skincare products, supplements, medications, lifestyle factors & occupational exposures, allergies, sensitivities, and other relevant health information.
Rather than immediately moving to the next treatment option, we want to understand what has been tried, what has worked, what has not worked, and what factors may be contributing to the problem.
This more complete picture helps our providers develop treatment plans that are practical, personalized, and appropriate for the individual patient.
Elkhorn Dermatology was intentionally established as a direct-pay dermatology practice.
We believe dermatology works best when treatment decisions are centered on the patient rather than shaped by insurance requirements, rushed appointment schedules, or administrative limitations.
Our direct-pay model allows us to provide transparent pricing and devote more time to comprehensive evaluations, patient education, treatment planning, and follow-up.
For patients managing persistent or complex skin concerns, that additional time can be especially valuable. It allows our patients and providers to review previous treatments, understand what has or has not worked, discuss available options, and build a more individualized plan.
Clear visit pricing, with treatment costs discussed before proceeding.
Appointments are structured around thoughtful evaluation rather than volume.
Care decisions are based on your individual needs and clinical findings.
To support lifelong skin health and overall wellness through personalized dermatology care focused on prevention, early detection, thoughtful evaluation, and treatment tailored to each patient.
We take time to understand your concerns, history, goals, and previous treatment experiences.
We combine careful clinical examination with advanced diagnostic technology when appropriate.
Treatment plans are developed around the individual patient rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Getting a concerning mole, persistent rash, worsening acne, or another skin problem evaluated should not always require waiting months for an appointment.
